"Sensory Distortions" is the oldest song in GotS's set list. In fact, most of it was written by Plair and Olivier without a drummer in mind, before Frost completed the lineup in late 2007. It is a mutt of a song. Each part was composed individually at different points in time, and then they were fused together with the proper transitions. It is also the oldest recording (2008) along with tracks 6 and 8. It utilizes recording equipment and some instruments that would be considered obsolete by today's standards, but hard work, dedication, and the latest mastering software have allowed this song to blend in with the others. It contains more recorded tracks than any other song on the album. Several additional guitar, synth, percussion, and other effects tracks were recorded to enhance it density and energy. Therefore, this recording differs the most from its live-performed version which lacks all of that extra, but perhaps rocks even harder to compensate. As a result of all that, "Sensory Distortions" is uniquely important. It represents the band's origin -- the place from which they have evolved musically, for better or for worse...
